Russell Scott Valentino’s translations include Materada by Fulvio Tomizza, Persuasion and Rhetoric by Carlo Michelstaedter, Between Exile and Asylum: An Eastern Epistolary, and The Other Venice: Secrets of the City, both by Predrag Matvejevic, and Kin, by Miljenko Jergović.
His translations and translation-focused scholarship have received support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Howard Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the U.S. Department of Education. He previously taught in the Translation Workshop at the University of Iowa, served as President of the American Literary Translators Association, and Editor-in-Chief at The Iowa Review. He is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures at Indiana University.
