Autumn Hill Books was conceived in Russell Scott Valentino’s faculty office at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, in 2004. Since then AHB has published approximately thirty books by authors from around the world. As an independent non-profit micro-press with a focus on contemporary international literature, most of these books have been translated from other languages into English. AHB also publishes the imprint 91st Meridian Books in collaboration with the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa, as well as an occasional literary magazine, M-Dash.
AHB’s books are distributed in the US and Canada by the Chicago-based Independent Publishers Group‘s Small Press United division. They are available through all major wholesalers and retailers and can be ordered by independent bookstores. If you have trouble finding one of our books, please drop us a line.
AHB’s books have been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Arts Council of Singapore, the British Arts Council, the Japanese Literature Publishing Project, the Croatian Ministry of Culture, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S., the Consulate General of Israel in New York, the Iowa Arts Council, the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry, the Literary Translation Institute of Korea, and Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
